[Chrysler300] 300C 'numbers'

There was no recognizable effort at the factory whatsoever nor any intent that the motor and frame numbers of a 300C should ever match the VIN of the car.  More 300 motors were built and sold than cars.  Thus, early in production the motor and frame were close to the VIN but by the end they were 50 numbers apart or more.  

There may be one or two cars where the numbers purely accidentally happened to coincide.  The motor/frame combos were NOT used from inventory consecutively. They were however code-matched to the final production equipment specification of each car.

Where did those extra motors go?  Well, some to folks like Kiekhaefer, Cunningham (the sports racer, not Gil !), the Granatellis, and anyone else who placed an order for one (or more).

Subject: re eBay 2 tone 300C sold?

Question for Wayne or Gil re eBay 300C - how often were 300Cs 'exact 
numbers matching' - ie motor number and car number the same - not too often, 
if at all ?! My understanding was often ran about 30-50 numbers apart, but 
beyond this closeness, no effort to number match?!
