I have a 70 Chrysler 300 Hurst, with approx. 77,000 miles on it. When I drove it last fall to a storage garage, it ran quite poorly. I kind of assumed the carb needed rebuilt, as I knew the accelerator pump was not working, and the carb likely had never been rebuilt. The car has been mostly stored for quite a few years, although in recent years I would start it up briefly in the garage or run it around the block if the weather was decent. In any event, I rebuilt the Carter AVS 4 barrel carb, ( Clean Air System ), carb number AVS-4741S. The car still runs terrible. It will start up and idle, but in gear, the car will not accelerate, if you push the accelerator down, it will stall. I put a new fuel pump and fuel filter on the car 2 years ago. Put new points and condenser in it. I checked the point gap and dwell, and they appear to be OK. New distributor cap, rotor, plugs and ignition wires were put on it a number of years ago. Maybe I did not rebuild the carb properly? I would like to hear any suggestions any of you Club member have, as to what I need to do to get this car running well again? Thank you. Any ideas greatly appreciated! Steve in Columbus, Ohio. --------------------------------- Yahoo! FareChase - Search multiple travel sites in one click.
