The answer to difficult starting after sitting for long periods of time is due to loss of fuel resulting from corrosion in the base of the "Carburetor Main Body" where the metal plugs are inserted in the base or underside. The plugs are to plug the holes that were drilled in the castings for passages. Gasoline will leak by the plugs as corrosion sets in. Some people use JB Weld to seal the area from the outside. I have yet to try JB Weld. Our other Chryslers have the same problem of difficult starting after sitting. We drove our 1957 300C continuously from 1958 through the 1970's and did not have any problems starting. For the last 20 years we have had to crank the 300 until the bowls fill.
