Way back when dinosaurs walked the earth, we would use landing beams from 
small planes in place of the high beams on a quad light system. Talk about 
a beam you could walk on. Of course, it helped if you could connect to the 
power grid, they did use some power, since in planes they are only turned 
on for a few minutes at a time.
