I would pull the engine and transmission as a unit. It can be pretty tough to get the engine re-aligned with the transmission in place in the car when you go to reinstall. I would also give serious consideration to rebuilding the transmission at the same time since it is out of the car. I have removed and replaced the engine on my G separate from the trans and it was tough to get them back together. By the same token, I have removed the trans for rebuilding twice, each time without a transmission jack. I will NEVER do it without a transmission jack again, the cast iron units are just too heavy. Unless the trans has been recently rebuilt, I would at least replace the front seal on the trans once they are separated. Bob J [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
