I have pulled the engine with and without the transmission on my '62...each had advantages and disadvantages...On a '60, you have a cast iron tranny rather than alum. So probably better to pull the engine without the tranny. I would invest on the best, most heavy duty engine stand you can find. I had one tip on me leaving me with a lovely scar on my leg...I was lucky, I was am to jump out of the way and merely got slashed by the tab on the timing cover. Worst case would have been 800lbs of motor on my legs AND I was working on it alone when it happened. (My husband came home 12 hours later to find the engine on the driveway wrapped in plastic and my leg wrapped in gauze.) The engine was undamaged. The 413 is a very heavy motor. Good Luck and have fun! I have numerous leaks from sitting for 20 years and a little blow-bye. It consumes and or leaks 1 to 1 1/2 quarts of oil on a 150 mile outing. What I need to know are there any hints, secrets or special procedures in extracting the 413 from the 60 Chrysler. I have removed lots of engines, but a 413 from this year will be a new adventure. Any do's or don'ts short of leave it there and keep adding more oil.
