Everything went well when the tire shop put tires on my 62 sport 300 -
after I informed them that there are left hand lug nuts on the car (I
did watch the tire removal and installation). They also use torque
wrenches to finish tighten the lugs rather then the air wrench.
For me the best part was standing back enjoying frustration the
mechanic was having, sitting behind the wheel (after starting the car to
drive into the shop), trying to find something to get the car moving.
After about 2 minutes I walked out the waiting area, reached through the
open window, released the brake (he could not release the brake) and
put the car in gear for him. He wasn't a kid, probably 7 years old
when Chrysler ceased the pushbutton shift.
For me I'm lucky to be still around to remember driving the new
pushbutton drive Desoto in 1956.
