Members, Last year, I appealed for somebody in our club to organize an "en masse" appeal to Chrysler, from the 300 club, to get the Hemi, (which they managed past Daimler Benz gatekeepers into the Dodge Truck line), into the N. An appeal to Chrysler with 100 names from a club providing "free marketing" from their hobby on it isn't statistical proof of demand. But its better than nothing when the Chrysler "champions" have to justify 2 high-performance engines being maintained in the car lines, ie the V10 Viper motor and the Hemi V8. The accountants may be right...it could be very expensive to have both. Bob Lutz told me that the reason for the V10 was that the engineers could get it through the EPA for a car easily due to the same approved "EPA cylinder model" as the V8. I don't know if the Hemi in the truck, with lower EPA requirements, levers the Hemi into the N on a cost basis. I don't know if the cost-cutters are done at Chrysler and if the marketing people have regained "clout". I don't have time to organize and do this but I would sign the letter or approve my name on the e-mail. Is Tom Gale still there? He would be a good target for the email. A 240 HP "300M" is a nice car, but from marketing perspective it is a bit of an oximoron, isn't it. A Hemi in an N could have the same marketing spillover that a special edition Corvette gets for Chevrolet. Get it to be pace-car of the Indy 500!!
