There are several versions of 331 heads so you have to qualify what you want. If your talking about a 1955 331 in a 300 and you want #s to match, your approach has to be a little different than if your just rebuilding the top end. Differences between a 1955 and 1956 are cosmetically minor. Rockers, pushrods, etc will swap from a similar application. There are, however, 331 truck and industrial heads that are much different and Pre - 55 331 heads come in two major variations that won't work for a 300.
