Pull the LEFT front drum and look the shoes over to make sure they show contact with the drum. If they are still brand new with no contact pattern showing, that would explain why it pulls to the right.
I bought an old Dodge pickup some years back that had just had a complete brake job done that did the same as your car. When I pulled the oposite front wheel, the shoes had never touched the drum, but the other side showed normal contact, which is why it pulled to the side with the brake working.
It took me a while to discover by loosening brake connections until I found that someone had taken a line loose and put a small shingle nail in the line to plug a leaking wheel cylinder and sold it to the fella I bought it from.
He put the new brakes on and sold it to me with the motor needing work, so neither he nor I had driven it, but he had done a good job, because after I removed the obstruction in the line, the brakes worked fine.
This doesn't explain the soft pedal, but a possibility is that for some reason the LEFT front has air trapped and is giving both the spongy pedal and could cause the car to pull to the right. You might try having the brakes pressure bled at a goog brake shop.

I readjusted the brake shoes on all wheels and sanded the brake shoes on the right front because the shoes were glazed. No change. I suspect that maybe the master cylinder might have the wrong bore diameter which might explain the pedal travel but the pulling to the right has me bavelled. Any help would be appreaciated.
