John, as far as I remember, my installation back in 99 was simplified by removal of the padded dash and all garnish. Otherwise we were two guys (yes, the other was a pro) with the proper tools and lots of time, starting by fitting the windshield into the rubber (all Goers) and using the rope to pull the assembly in place. We tried both the top first and the other way around before success was made, a pity I do not remeber which way that did work. I also remember having to use the tools/sticks over and over again to get all rubber in the correct position (the rear window is anyhow harder to fit). Final trimming and glueing together the rubber ends was done with the windshield in place. No cracks, no water leaks afterwards. To sum it up, plenty of time and at least one attendant with skills should do the work. (If you bend the dash-top slightly by its center, it is easy installed even with the windshield in place) Narve NORWAY -----Opprinnelig melding----- Fra: jpeabo@xxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jpeabo@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sendt: 6. juni 2004 16:42 Til: 300 club listserver all club members Kopi: jpeabo@xxxxxxxxxxx Emne: [Chrysler300] '55 windshield install I would like to attempt to install the windshield on my c-300. I bought the car without the 'shield so I don't have removal experience that I could reverse. I down loaded a manual Chrysler printed in '54 but it contradicts the '55 manual by instructing the installer to place the windshield in the lower corner and spooning out till completely in. My '55 repair manual says to shove the glass UP into the rubber & work it from there. So I figure I'll need 3 or 4 guys to hold the weight of the glass as I work the sticks. I have a not so good windshield that I'm going to put in so if I break it, I break it. My good one took me 4 years to find and I just don't have the confidants yet to install. If I get the other one in, I'll be able to drive the car to someone who can do it. This is what I got so far; padded dash installed - inside garnish molding installed losley but "A" pillar molding installed tight - Gary Goers upper rubber glued in place - I'm going to substitute Gary's lower rubber for a much more flexible new one -two plastic sticks - go jo hand cleaner- nylon rope - I know there are club member who have the expertise to walk me thru this. 300 thanks, John Peabody To send a message to this group, send an email to: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx For list server instructions, go to http://www.chrysler300club.com/yahoolist/inst.htm Yahoo!
