[Chrysler300] 300 passenger mirror query

Can anyone put me straight here?  Did the passenger side mirror on '59 and '60's, which would have been either a factory ticked or dealer installed extra, have the centre hollow tube such as the remote driver's side mirror has.
Reason I ask is that I have seen them with, and without. The part numbers are different for each.......and on P 31 of my 1960 Accessories Catalog, it shows the optional passenger side mirror WITH the centre hollow tube, such as the remote mirrors have.
But, my buddy with a '59 Dodge......same mirrors......has a passenger side one without this centre tube??
As there is no part or casting number on mine, I am wondering if what I have is a remote mirror.......without the remote control attached.
But then.......why does the Accessoriy Catalog show the centre tube??   
Any theories welcomed...........thanks folks
