[Chrysler300] Subject: Removing the 57/58 backlight..rear window

I might add that a very common mistake is to think that the 5' stainless piece along the bottom of the backglass on the catwalk between glass and trunk lid has to be removed from INSIDE the trunk. The natural instinct is to start prying from the outside like EVERY other piece of stainless trim on our cars (except windshield bottom) but that is NOT the thing to do and you will quickly destroy a piece of trim getting very hard to find for replacement. There are perhaps nine or ten (?) nutted fasteners between package shelf and catwalk to loosen while laying on your back in the trunk. Then climb out and lift the piece off easily.

Note this is a common area for rust in the glass gasket trough because water sat there. Clean it out WELL and treat the rust if any. And be sure to use liberal body sealer or "dum-dum" or silicone on the new fasteners you purchase from Gary Goers or RJ& L Fastener so you don't get water in the trunk.

Wayne
