It sounds like your lean burn is crapping out. The part you said about the problem starting after about a half hour is what my ' 87 was doing. I converted it to electronic ignition, and the problem I had was solved. Hope this helps, John [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 2 Date: Tue, 22 Oct 2002 09:11:41 -0700 From: "John L. It was making some strange noises and after replacing it, the noises went away. Now I have a different strange noise coming from the passenger side wheel. When I make a left turn at about 20 mph, I hear a Chirp-Chirp-Chirp coming from the right side. (The weight of the car leans to the right side on a left turn.) I don't hear this noise going straight down the road or making a right turn. Should I assume that the right axle bearing needs to be replaced now? Any words of wisdom would be appreciated! Thanks- Mark Lindahl '63 300 Conv. ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 5 Date: Tue, 22 Oct 2002 13:44:45 -0400 From: Mark Souders <souders@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: RE: '63 Chrysler 300 Rear Wheel/Axle Chirping Mark, I had a similar noise from the rear of my 69 Dart a few months ago. Turned out to be the stabilizer bar that goes between the front and back brake shoes. When I made a right turn, the weight of the car forced the brake lining outward and thus pulled that little bar toward the outside. When that happened, the bar would rub against one of the heads of the wheel studs. The one stud was replaced years ago and the head was thicker than the rest. After I replaced the stud with a correct one, the chirping noise disappeared. The only way to check for this is to pull the drum and look for wear on the bar and stud heads. If it's not a bearing you might want to check this. Hope this helps, Mark > -----Original Message----- > From: mplindahl@xxxxxxx [SMTP:mplindahl@xxxxxxx] > Sent: Tuesday, October 22, 2002 12:55 PM > To: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [Chrysler300] '63 Chrysler 300 Rear Wheel/Axle Chirping > > Hi Gang, > > I replaced the drivers side rear axle bearing > (Bearing Cone) located behind the brake plate > a few years ago. After changning all four brake-cylinders on the front wheels, new brake-linings, polishing? the brake-drums and installation of new master-cylinder all done by a good mechanic I hoped to have good brakes. Well not at all! The brake on the right front locks up, I have to put in reverse to loose it. This is a big problem, untill now nobody knows what's the problem. I have looked in the manual and there on the brake pictures lining goes all the way on the shoes. The new linings are shorter, any clues? Sincerely Ivan from Sweden... ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Your use of Yahoo!
