Subject: CAMSHAFT RECOMMONDATION

Building the 413 out of my 1962 300.

It's being bored to .40 over, the crank is being machined 10-10, the
block will be surfaced along with the heads.

I need to replace the camshaft and am wondering is anyone has a
particular brand and spec to recommend. I'm considering a small
performance camshaft (nothing too crazy) to go with this high
compression motor.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jennifer Allyn

The early chrysler 300s had some some relatively mild cam grinds,
compared to todays offerings. A more modern grind would definately be of a

benefit and the right cam will definately improve the high compression/
low
gas quality problem we have with the older engines. Call one of the more
reputable cam grinders' tech help line numbers and tell them what what you

need, they should know better than any of us what the best choice would
be.
If you're going to be surfacing the block and heads, I would suggest
investing in some adjustable rocker arms & pushrods, Chrysler engines
really really respond nicely to having all the hydraulic lifters preloaded

evenly- something that a lot of todays mechanics don't even check when
they
assemble an engine.

That's right I have the one year only inline set up that is correct for
this motor...cross rams look like more fun...but I am stock.

IF you have the inline carbs set up instead of the crossram,
you might investagate the Mopar "purple" shaft and see if it
was more performance then the original stock cam for your motor.

Shawn:

My Govier "Part & Casting Numbers Book" indicates a 1970
C-Body
(except Imperial) with a 440 should have either a p/n 2998967 (26" and no
A/C) or a p/n 2998968 (26" with A/C) or possibly a p/n 2998970 (26" w/
both).
Good hunting!

300F'ly,

Roger Karlson

Shawn,
Subject: does any know what radiator is in a 1970 crysler 300 with 440

Shawn,
I believe I bought such a radiator brandy new from "The Paddock" about 2
years ago.
I think I picked part # W332-3 which is listed for a 67 thru 69 Plymouth
Fury. It is a 3 row, 17-1/2" by 26-1/4" by 2 " . Price was $216.95 .
Please
check your measurements....these measurements are that of the CORE, and
not
the external measurements of the radiator !

Of course, this is an aftermarket radiator, and as such doesn't have the
correct logos or part numbers. If authenticity is a factor, then just
take
your old original radiator to a competent radiator shop and have it
recored.
But that will likely be more expensive than a new replacement

300'ly,
John
