I would think that any kind of 'header' on the exhaust would improve breathing/horsepower over the log style originals. Cam and timing certainly need to be 'compatible' with the long rams. Improper choice of cam could easily result in higher HP from a single quad manifold over the long ram setup. Personally, the way I now drive my 65 year old car with my 70+ year old body, the torque is more appreciated in the mid range than anything that happens near or above 5000 rpm.My G coupe I purchased from Charles Clark back in the 80's was a more powerful car than the G convertible I now own. I still wonder who and how that coupe engine was built, as it was significantly faster than my convertible, revving higher and getting to those rpm in less time. Great burnouts, too, but that was 40 years ago when I still did such silly things. ;-) When I had Dominic Rinaldi replace the rear main seal that was weeping, he commented that 'someone has been in there before', as the motor also had a windage tray that was certainly not stock. On Mon, Feb 2, 2026 at 8:53 PM Kurt Brueske <kurt.brueske@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:In part one, he ran a single 4 bbl and achieved 340-350hp:The cam and intake valve timing is critical for the supercharging effect teaming with the intake runners. Having not seen Part III yet, probably safe to say there cam is different than the OEM grind.--On Mon, Feb 2, 2026 at 8:39 PM Tom Wilburn <tomwilburn1@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:I was thinking that the aftermarket headers may have somehow messed things up.
