Re[2]: {Chrysler 300} Pertronix in a ‘62

You can run the Pertronix through the ballast resistor (red wire to coil +), but that's one reason why guys wind up having trouble with them over time (low voltage).  You really should run full battery voltage to the Pertronix (Pertronix red wire connected to 12V, before the ballast resistor).  This is clearly shown in the Pertronix instructions.   Follow the instructions like Danny said.   The Pertronix black wire is connected to coil negative.    We've debated all the other potential issues before, no need to rehash, it's all in the archives.

Matt:

Identify your Pertronix module and look for its installation instructions on line which should be easy to do. Discussions about the travails of Pertronix use are prevalent on a Corvette forum I frequent. Many run into trouble with the ballast in the circuit feeding the gadget. You must follow their wiring instructions.

Even then I would keep a spare gizmo or a set of points, condenser and mounting screws in the glove box.

I have forgotten too much since I pulled the motor….
Wire coming off the left side of the ballast resistor attaches to the positive side of the coil?
Then another wire, positive side too, feeds down to the distributor attaching to the pertronix module?
Then negative side of the coil feeds into the distributor also?
Thanks
