Re: The AACA new "Original" class designation; it is a re-worked and expanded version of the former HPOF designation (Historic Preservation of Original Features). It is designed for cars that have not been restored, but rather still have their original factory
paint, factory leather or cloth interiors, mechanical components, etc.. The nice thing about this is that one avoids the judging emphasis on perfect showroom condition. Usage imperfections and patina are actually a plus. In the attached photo here of the new
badge plus the 5000 mile Touring Award you can actually see some of the well-earned and highly acceptable road rash patina on the original Festival Red paint in the lower left corner. Allowable "original dirt" makes show prep a whole lot easier!

Thank you all for the fast course in 300H trunk carpets! Looks like one of the previous owners had the right idea replacing the original rubber with a synthetic carpet. The trunk floor is good and solid. I'll consider the substitute synthetic a good "preservation
upgrade", like the switch I made to radials. Many thanks again....

I harken back to John Grady’s story of the exhaust being too close to the trunk, the carpet caught fire and he had to put out the fire with the case of beer in the trunk.

Those rubber trunk Mats were the worst idea. If their is any moisture there the mats make shure It never drys out. Always rust under them. Go with a real carpet mat. Bob Haag
