Well, I just watched the first hour of the B-J auction today (now I'm watching the Eagles beat the Cardinals) and the Speed Channel commentator explained what happened. Jackson sold the car last year at the B-J auction, and last year's?buyer had it there to sell again this year. Jackson took the stage and did some talking about the car when the bidding stalled. He then said if the bidding doesn't move he will bid on it. The auctioneer told him that he could only bid from the floor, not the stage. So he went down to the floor and bid on the car. Jackson did not win the auction. The commentator stated that a seller cannot bid on his own car.

my eyes were blurry, but did anybody else notice reggie jackson bidding on his 
own 69 copo camaro when bidding stalled around 200k? but of course, owners 
bidding on their own cars  to up the price would never happen at b-j!
