Hi George and Larry,
My F also has the unpainted aluminum vent grille. It has a 1/11/60 build date, so it's not really early. Factory mix up maybe? I'm not sure either whether I should restore the car with it or not.
Since I now have a J with no engine, I plan to restore the F to stock and used the short rams and headers I have on the car they belong on.
For those who don't know, when I bought my car it had a 69 440 (with rams) and a 62 torqueflite. It was quite fast with this set-up, and was undefeated at Pete Fitch's meet in NJ when we all raced at Englishtown.
300ly,
Don Verity

Larry; I have had 2 Fs with the anodized aluminum insert. Neither were painted. Why? I have no answer! I do not know if it was an option but have never seen it on any option list. But, I have seen Plymouths of that era with the aluminum, unpainted. And have seen one other '60 F with it.

The vent intake grille between the hood and base of the windshield in my car
is natural aluminum maybe anodized hard to tell. I can't seem to find a good
picture of this area of an F and having never seen an F in person other than
mine I have no idea if this is correct. Should this be body colored?
