[Chrysler300] Hidden numbers

Hello fellow members, et al:

As evidenced by a number of e-mails concerning "secret numbers" or hidden ID
for Chrysler 300's, many folks own (or have owned) vehicles without a serial
number plate on the door post due to time, rust, removal, theft etc. The
1961 300-G convertible now on e-bay is a prime example.

My question is: why are the factory serial number locations secret? If
someone knows the location of the factory serial number stampings, that or those
person(s) would do a great service to the membership by revealing those
locations.

I now await the nay-sayers.

300'ly, Gary Hagy, Hamburg, PA

300-C (without a door plate, but confirmed by Gil)
300-C Conv.
300-E
300-G Conv.
