[Chrysler300] how tough are 300C 392 conrod bearings?

As part of getting ready for my earlier mentioned 'aussie new 300C versus 57
300C' meeting Wednesday, this afternoon I have just put new set of standard
conrod bearings into the 392 motor.

The bearings I took out were dated 1969, Clevite, and although not showing
any wear through to copper, were pretty sad - widespread pock marks, mini
cratering, and on one shell, a whole centre piecs about 2/3rds size of small
pea on one side area of centre of shell was gone, down to steel
shell/backing. Only about 4-5 shells looked like normal worn/used shells you
would pull from other V8 motors.

Any one got any clues re what is reason/cause, or do 392 hemis really load
their shells more than other motors. Main bearings looked great, and I do
not normally rev motor over 5000 rpm, but do not know what former owner/use
was. I know with poured white metal vintage bearings, they can age, this
what these seem like as a first look, maybe cause, but in this case would
aging be caused by fatigue, rather than time?

Weather forecast for Wednesday is for clearing - normally dry South
Australia is close to issuing localised flood warnings after rain that
started yesterday - hope they are right, my ex Los Angeles rust free 300 got
wet this morning going to garage with a better big hoist to make it easier I
pull the sump. The bearings just put in came from Egge, are I think King
(Israel) , so I hope OK.

yours from oz, Christopher
