[Chrysler300] Temperature Sensor!!!

Hi everyone out there in Chrysler Land:
 
Got a quick question - have to rebuild the air compressor in my car.   While 
I have that out, I noticed there is a small temperature sending unit that  
screws into the top of the block.  Do these go bad or should they ever be  
replaced?  They look like they are made of copper or brass and look like  nothing 
can go wrong with them or am I mistaken?
