I'm very familiar with the flash chroming which Mopar put over stainless in the 50's. Any time you try to seriously straighten or polish a piece out you have to totally buff the original plating off to get a uniform color. I have had the rear ss around the front of the rear bumpers on my 55 300 redone and they came out beautiful. If you have a decent plating shop near you and the pieces just need a good shine again why not get a quote to remove the chrome buff the pieces and then put a layer of chrome on them again. The biggest cost in plating is the prep work and it should be minor here and with only one dip not too expensive it would seem. Of course with plating prices now!!! Be interesting and worthwhile to try I would think. Sure would look great when done. I personally have never been able to polish the ss to look as nice as the flash chromed originals do.
