The new edelbrock carbs can be made to work sweet without too much hassle. The biggest problem is the air cleaners wont fit because of the larger edelbrock carb throat size. You will have to make new air cleaner bases with the proper hole size, once installed you would not be able to see the new base really anyway. There is a guy out there making fiberglas repro ram air cleaners and he makes bases to fit the new carbs as well. I believe his name was mike something and he was on the west coast from what I remember. The linkage can be adapted easily if you are a fairly mechanical guy. It looks like the EDL 1404 500 cfm, manual choke would be the carbs. What I would like to know from anyone that has done the swap is did they have any problems adapting the linkage to the new carbs? I understand that many of the group members belive that the cars have to stay original, but because of these carbs I'm going to miss the spring meet this year. To have the stock carbs rebuild by a Pro carb shop would cost almost $600.00 the Edelbrock's are a little over $400.00 for brand new.
