Re: [Chrysler300] Gauge Face Restoration Question

Mike

You did not say, but sounds like 58 gauges you are referring to. I have a full set waiting to finish. The candy green is complete and needs silk screening completed. I reversed engineered the gauge face markings and had a silk screen made. Lets see, If I do a
1000 gauges I might break even. Oh well it's the challenge. I have all the chrome housings re plated and inner trim ready as well.
I did a set for a guy in Sweden and he said that it could not be done in there. It is tricky to get correct color.
If interested mail me and I will send photos. Or anybody else that may need as new 58 restored gauges.

Greetings everyone,

Can someone tell me how to match the
color / finish on the gauge faces. I took the speedo to a local paint supplier
who looked at it... thought it may have been an anodized finish but wasnt sure.
I took it home and tested a spot on a bad gauge with some laquer thinner and
it removed the greenish hue down to bare metal. Doesnt look like there was
any primer applied.

Was this a translucent paint? Laquer?
Im told that the scan tool they use to try to match paint wont work on this.
Any suggestions as to where to get them done or how best to match the finish
is appreciated. Oh... working on a K ( think these had a lighter color than
the J ) .. am unfamiliar with other years.

Thanks
