but I have no hose connected to the 'drain port' on the unit.

On power piston you must have two hoses: one which goes to the solenoid and another (drain ) which goes to ... nothing !! The two hoses are routed through the firewall (grommets). The "drain" hose hangs along the solenoid and the end is 4 inches below it. So if ther's some oil drained through this hose it will drop along the firewall...
Note that you've another "hose" which goes to oil pan (or rather oil filler tube) but this hose comes from the solenoid. This is not a rubber hose, except at solenoid end. This oil line (same as oil line coming from the rear of engine to the solenoid) runs along the left valve cover.
