So I start on the pitman arm side to install a new center link on the '62 300 today and didn't get very far. Yes, it's self explanatory on how it installs, though I didn't get very far. Yes, it matches the center link I just pulled off the car, but I didn't get very far. Why? The studs mount up into the pitman arm & idler arm, then you torque the nut to 45 pounds. I wasn't near that torque and the stud began spinning in the socket, thus I was unable to torque it down, or tighten it for that matter. I don't understand how the base of the stud fits into the pitman or idler arm holes, though I know the old links studs did. Any suggestions?
