brake return springs (57-59)

Hi,
(about 12 x 2 1/2 " drums) Where do you hook the brake return
spring at shoe ?
- In the hole of the shoe web ?
- in the loop of the shoe ?
Seems (according to FSM) that at front brake it's in the hole and
at rear it's in the loop. Is there any difference ?
