Filter by-pass & anti-drain valve assembly on 392

Just had this whole assembly fall out in my lap. have no idea which side is up(towards the block) and which side is down. The pictures in the books are not that clear(at least to me). I guess I have a 50/50 chance of getting it correct, but would rather not take the chance and have to drop the pan again. Anyone have the answered?
