Drivetrain vibration

Hi Jonathan

With regards to the symptoms your car exhibits: while a bad axle bearing
might cause a humming sound ( usually made worse when turning or putting
weight on that specific wheel by rocking steering wheel side to side while
driving ) , it just appears to me that the vibration is caused by something
else, probably a bad universal joint.

Should you elect to replace the axle, please keep in mind that the length
is different from Sure-Grip rears to non Sure-Grips. You asked members of
the list for a good replacement axle but did not specify whether the car has
Sure-Grip or not.

Sincerely,

John
