Windshield Wiper

We have 2 '62's, a 300 Sport & a NY wagon. They both do the same thing in
reference to the windshield wipers. When I turn them on, in either of the 2
speeds, they work great. When I go to turn them off, they keep going & I
have to position the knob in between the off position & the slower speed
position to get them to stop.

How do I fix this? Do I need to pull the motor out its impossible location
for some form of a repair?
