Hi club; Okay here I wade into the Octane discussion . There is a company who produces strictly racing fuel , with high lead content.. SUNCO . their fuel is 110 (r+m)2 . If you can get aircraft fuel that has its octane rating increased with the use of lead , it is by far the best , because it is cheaper ..If you use Unleaded gas.. DO NOT ADD ALCOHOL .. to increase the octane . You can buy Sunco in the The US .. Also in Canada .. If anyone wants to know the break down by mixing 110 with 92 the highest we can get at the pumps.. please E-mail and I'll send you SUNCO's chart on how much to add. If they won't sell it at and airport to you , give them the call letters off any plane around , or a friend that you know and they'll sell .. Don't use the call letters off a DC 747 they may become just a bit suspicious besides which it burns jet fuel. There has been some very good advice with timing already given I won't belabor the facts.. unless your unable to get any fuel below 92 that usually does the trick... water injection is an old Turbo charge trick , but talk to GALE BANKS and he'll shy away from it. Two carbs versus one.. the more of that 100 octane you can get to go threw that machine with a good burn the better, some bright engineer followed that advice back in the mid 50's and came up with a car called the Chrysler 300 .. and you know what it still kicks ..a...ss many years later. Regards Ben Meisner CANADA Oh dear God it's cold.
