Hi Paul, To answer your question: there is indeed supposed to be fluid inside the cable. The cable's outside cover is supposed to be leak-proof. If your cable's outside cover has sprung a leak, the only real fix is to replace it - there is no sure-fire good way to repair the cable housing. The leak is coming from the Control Cable. The seal is in place where the cable enters the transmission housing and cable is properly installed according to the service manual. My mechanic tells me that fluid is getting inside the cable and leaking from a small hole on the outside cover of the cable, about 3-4 inches from the transmission. My question, is there suppose to be fluid inside the cable or is there suppose to be a seal at the end of the cable to prevent any transmission fluid from getting inside the cable? Which is correct?
