[Chrysler300] question

Does anyone have experience with putting a variable speed windshield wiper
mechanism (for a 57 300C) back together, so that the park function works
correctly?? I took mine apart and cleaned the exterior....the motors runs
great, and now the PARK function doesn't operate. Still the same wiring and
switch but no Park function. The service manual gives a description of
putting it back together that doesn't make any sense. How does the PARK
function get triggered?? I can't see how a spring on the arm can trigger
it..... No logic to it. Any hep would be appreciated.
