In the road test of the brand new Roadrunner in the November, 1967 issue,
Hot Rod magazine makes mention of both 440 wedge and 426 hemi engines on
the option list,for that car.

Hot Rod magazine was/is generally bow-tie related, with some exceptions.
If
you wanted a 440 in a B-body Plymouth, you had to opt for the GTX.

Two types of fan clutches. One is a Viscous and the other is the spring
type thermostat.
Two types of coolant pumps. One for without a/c (circulates faster) and
one for with a/c (circulates slower for more heat absorbation)

An article for a November issue of Hot Rod was probably written pre
production in June or July. It's a possibility it was considered by
Chrysler at that time, then rejected. Why buy a GTX of the only difference
was a little trim? Another possibility in my opinion the information was
intentionally false to throw a curve at Ford and Chevy. It's been known
to happen before - many times - by all manufacturers.
Bottom line, no matter who said what, a 440 was not a regular production
option on the RR except as previously mentioned.

Subject: 57 Fury radio request
I am in need of a 57 Plymouth Search tune (7 button) radio. It seems when
I
went to hook up my HighWay Hi Fi I do not have a receptacle on the side of
my
current radio's chassis. O.. There is the location and the hole but no
female
receptacle. In fact I doubt the radio ever had one since no tell tales
for
the rivets that holds it in are evident. Therefore I am wondering if it
was
discontinue later in the year. Seems I've been told the HI Fi was a
factory
installed feature only in 56 with dealer inventory sales only in 57.
Perhaps it
was deleted after a time when it was anticipated that the inventory would
be
sold out.
So does anyone have a serviceable Plymouth radio for sale?
