Subject: 1958 Chrysler 300D For Sale
Not mine. Got a call though asking if I would post an ad:
1958 Chrysler 300D Hardtop. Mostly original. Spent much of it's life
in California, now is in WV. 38,000 miles. Body Solid. No hubcaps.
"Hood nose is raised" (not sure what he means by that, but he said 300
people would understand. Carbs not matching, aluminum intake. Spark
plug covers missing. Interior needs redone, but is all there.
Searchtune, PS, PB, PW, Power Seat, Cruise control, Tinted glass, Tinted
and Shaded rear glass. Has correct wide whites. Good chrome and
potmetal. Hood and trunk have been shaved. Not title, but has bill of
sale. 304-296-1954 WV.

Subject: Lower rear quarter panels
I am curious if anyone else has found the new quarter panels from
MetalCrafters to be too short when doing the installation?? We found the
bottom of the front edge of the panels to be 5/8" too short and the rear
part to range from about 1/2" at the top to about 1-3/8" short at the
bottom. Take a look at the following webpage and you can see what I am
referring to:

The shortfall is between the blue and red lines in the first two pictures.
In any case, the passenger side is now on and ready for additional panel
beating to bring it around to being straight.... And that makes me very
pleased.

I'm getting confused with my two dimensional mind. When I put shims
between the backing plate and the axel housing am I increasing the end
play or decreasing the end play. O. K. just laugh a little and help me
out with all the grace and dignity that is deserving of a letter car.

Ok, I have been asked to be just a little bit more specific about this.
I am hoping that the folks that pursued this for "correctness" at least
found mufflers that have the correct inlet and outlets. Are the mufflers
you presume to be "correct" SONO-4X, SONO-6X, the "right" length, just
what
length is the body on the ones you used, part numbers found on them, if
they
have part numbers, if they have date codes, the usual little nitpicks, do
they
at least have a little "rumble" to them, or are they quiet as a church
mouse?
Whew, not asking for much am I? :-)

Regret to inform the Membership of the passing of GERRY STEINBERG on
Thursday, June 12th, after suffering a massive heart attack on June 6th.
He was 75. Gerry was an active member of both Clubs and was currently
Vice-President of the 300 Club, Inc. and also ran the Club Store for many
years.
An avid activist against any legislation derogatory to car collecting was
one
of his passions. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, and car
collectors everywhere have lost a true friend.
I will up-date the Membership when more information becomes available.

I have not read all the replies, but the best cleaner I found which also
benefits the rubber is silicone lube spray. Do a small area at a time, do
real scrubbing required but work fast as the spreay evaporates fast.
