Hi,
I must now remove my non-working speedo (since 2 years) and install
another tested. Does someone have remove a 57/58 Imperial speedo WITHOUT
removing the dash ? I know how remove the speedo itself (i've two spare
clusters), i know it's a pain to access to the upper nuts (and i can't
imagine how to re-install them...) but if someone has already removed
one let me know what parts i must remove before. Seems that removing the
parking brake assy. is mandatory but nothing else ?
Ther's some infos about "57 speedo removal" on Chrysler bulletin 1000-CH
but i don't know if ther's something about Imperial.
The labor time schedule says 1.6 h for Imperial (0.5 for Chrysler..)

Hello form Cold Italy
in a couple of days will be in sunny and warm Arizona looking for some
parts (well, my shopping list is fairly long) for my 57 DeSoto Adventurer
and my 58 Fury. Any reccomended junkyards or nice places to visit, besides
the large ones like Desert Valley, Hidden Valley or Ron Wiseman?
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Thank you Antonello Jelitro

Would also love to meet some club members. Any old car meet in this
timeframe? Will stay in Arizona for two weeks: swap meets, cruises, hot
rod reunions, drag races, all the thing that a poor european dreams all
his life...

Haven't seen one in white anywhere. If they aren't available, all you need

is a screwdriver, some masking tape and a good can of spray paint or an
airbrush. Viola, a white die cast. The '57 is available as a 1/25 scale
plastic kit as well if you are so inclined.

hello--I'm looking for information. I have a 1964 300K and apparently
need
a steering gearbox. I would be interested in sources and prices. It
would
also be of interest if any members have a spare gearbox that was a reman
or
possibly nos. It is possible that this may be a readily available part.
My
first inquiry was from a source who only remanufactured from 1965 and
forward (probably some version of the forward look) that sure was sick--oh
well--any replies, part numbers or help would be appreciated. Thanks in
advance. Robbin Hoch

Subject: Identifing big block in my J parting out

Greetings Group!
The J I am parting out has what appears to be a 383 4 barrel. On the
pad it is stamped "T 38", which from all my info makes it a 383. I pulled
both valve covers and this is where I am really stumped. It has 6 (six)
bolt valve covers, but the heads are casting number 2463200, and have the
bolt in style rocker stands, NOT cast in. That casting number is for 63
361,383 and 413's by my info.I have never seen this casting number with
the 6 bolt valve covers, every one I have seen has only 4. The block
casting is 2128854, my info shows that a 64 casting. I cannot locate a
cast in "casting date" on either side of the block. Between the 63 casting
heads w/ 6 valve cover bolts and the 64 block casting number I am stumped
as to what the heck I have here. The Intake has 2205968 casting number.
which shows 62-67 usage, so I figure intakes are the easiest item to
change and don't give it much weight in figuring what the engine really
is.The carb is a AFB without a pcv fitting, don't remember the carb # of
hand. Can any one explain the 6 bolt heads w/ bolt in rocker stands?
And/or what am I missing in finding a casting date on the block, or any
other info?
Any assistance is very much appreciated. Joe Pierce 300J+Kx3+others

Hi Joe,
63 was a transition year for valve covers. There are even some 63's out
there with the two "tabs" for the extra bolts but no holes drilled. They
probably did the vale cover stamping before the head casting was changed.
300ly,
    Don

According to Galen Govier's casting ID book, 2463200 is 1963 w/ 361, 383,
and 413, closed chamber, 2:08 intake, 1:60 exhaust valves. 4 bolt valve
cover. Any possibility the extra bolts holes were drilled by somebody ?

T38 identifies block as 1963 unit. No info in Govier's book about that
casting # .

2205968 intake fits many years : is for 1962 or 1963 or 1964 B body w/ 361
or 383 . or 1965 B or C body or 1966 B, C body or 1967 A, B, C, body 383 .

All this according to Govier.

John

Hi, Joe,

My information shows that the heads are indeed for 1963 361, 383, 413, and

that 63 is the first year of 6 bolt valve covers. Trouble is, 63 should
have
cast-in rocker stands. Close your eyes and sell it, before you go crazy.

Hi Group:

I called this outfit, which I found in our services (parts)
directory,
and was told that the number is no longer in service. Does anyone know if

perhaps they are operating either elsewhere or under another number or
name?

Thanks,

Pete Fitch

Subject: Copper A/C lines

Members,

Are the A/C copper lines for 61's reproduced or do you have to use
originals? I am referring to the fluid line that goes around the
condensor and up and over the radiator support. There is also a short
one that goes from the condensor to the drier.

Are the shorter wheelbases (Newport version) different at the front end?
Is the line basically shorter where it goes over the radiator support?
Any of you guy's / gal's with '62 sport coupes w/ A/C have any pics.

Thanks for the help,

Dan
