As long as we're talking about eBay, don't forget to check the "hemi"
listings. Here's one that should be checked out by any 57-58 owner.

this setup appears to have come from the COMPLETE motor bought
from the Cleveland area last year or the year before.
It had been messed with before it was dropped into the vehicle
it was currently sitting in, that seller pulled it out of so that it
could sell it on e-bay then.

IF this is the same one, it went for over 2k in unknown condition,
everything visable in the various pics was repainted the wrong color
for a 300 motor, but it indeed was a "D" motor.

Subject: repair panels - question

Hi to all,

Could one of you - or some of you - who have ordered and received the
patch
panels for 57-59 from Metalcrafters, please reply PRIVATELY to this
person
with necessary information? Reason I stress privately is that he is not
on
the listserver.

I'd appreciate a cc copy so that I know that someone has indeed replied to
him !

Sincerely,
John

Update:

Reproduction Quarter Panel Repair Project

After multiple discussions with Metalcrafters in California with Ken Mack,
we now know panels are coming slowly because they are having problems
producing them using the original bladder press system. They have had to
trim them by hand, run them through the press a second time, then do
hand-hammered finishing on each piece to get the quality we want.

This is obviously far more labor than they intended on these panels and
they
have been losing money on each one. The new plan as of 2-24-03 - they
are
making Kirksite dies (a very hard plastic) for a conventional press and
are
going to run the entire order when the dies are done - in about a months
time.

This should solve the availability problem we've been talking about for
the
last six months. Unfortunately, this will increase cost per panel (each
side) from $150 to $200 each to cover cost of more expensive dies, plus
handeling and shipping.

All orders placed after February 25 and later will be at the increased
price. If we can have these panels in this quantity though, we think it
is
worth it!

Michael Burke, Ken Mack, George Riehl

I am working on a 300K and would like to paint the engine. I remember a
lot
of discussion of this topic. Did anyone find a substitute for the original

plasticoat?
Walter

Bob

I just called Metalcrafters and the $400 price is effective as of today,
Feb. 25. As of yesterday the $300 price ended.

Hi Walter,
I seem to remember someone mentioning a truck diesel
color
that was supposed to be a match and I just happened to be at a local parts

store last night and picked up a can of Duplicolor engine enamel called
"detroit diesel alpine green". The number is DE1618

I'll spray some out in the next day or so and let you
know
what I think.
Mike Laiserin
