The great advantage of installing engine and trans in subframe is that you can actually START and RUN the engine / trans when they are installed. I use an old radiator support to hang the radiator, and then connect it up to the engine and trans cooler lines, connect up a manual oil pressure gauge, and fire it up and run it ( off a gas can..) . I like to run it that way for at least an hour, breaking it in if it is a fresh rebuild. Odds are SOMETHING will leak - a valve cover gasket ( I also suggest starting and breaking in the engine with a single-four barrel manifold and carb if you have one..) , a freezeout plug, a seal, a gasket... then, of course, it is SO much easier to repair than when the whole mess is installed in the car ! Once you have run the engine / trans combo for a good long time, and you have made SURE nothing leaks, then you can install the rams and get it running with the rams on. Then, and only then should you roll the subframe under the car and reattach it. I am not sure what you mean by K-frame cars versus subframe cars - to me they are one and the same ? Have fun ! I found the reason why my engine was misfiring one spark plug was fouled a piece of carbon was wedged in the spark plug tip they were champion plugs so i replaced them with bosch platinum type no it has the pwer it did when i first started out but some times now when i hit 60 to 70 m.p.h. it starts acting a little sluggish and lagging then picks up again so i think the plug wires are at fault to like a club member told me and my points are set at 017.maybe thats to close i should widen the gap to 19 or 20 but it doesnt misfire anymore well thank you all so much for the help tom. _________________________________________________________________ Join the world's largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 3 Date: Sun, 4 Aug 2002 22:26:14 EDT From: News4ge@xxxxxxx Subject: Ram K Question Hi, Ram K owners, The carb linkage on my ram K has some engine-color paint on it. Should the linkage be painted engine color? If not, what? The comment was made to me that, while the pads should be colored, the bases should have a chrome type finish and that a previous owner had painted the bases. I have never seen the interior of another 300L so I don't know if the guy is right. What is the answer? Thanks, Steve Galezowski [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 5 Date: Mon, 05 Aug 2002 06:13:16 -0700 From: Mike Apfelbeck <moparmike@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: 300-G engine problem If it starts to run out of steam at 60-70 mph, you might consider checking for adequate fuel delivery. Maybe a dirty fuel filter or a restriction somewhere, impeding the fuel flow. Get yourself a dwell meter and set the points to 32° (each, for dual points), feeler guages are only slightly better than nothing for setting points. my .02 worth, Mike At 02:13 AM 8/5/02 +0000, thomas powers wrote: >Hi everyone. > I found the reason why my engine was misfiring one spark plug was fouled >a piece of carbon was wedged in the spark plug tip they were champion plugs >so i replaced them with bosch platinum type no it has the pwer it did when i >first started out but some times now when i hit 60 to 70 m.p.h. it starts >acting a little sluggish and lagging then picks up again so i think the plug >wires are at fault to like a club member told me and my points are set at >017.maybe thats to close i should widen the gap to 19 or 20 but it doesnt >misfire anymore well thank you all so much for the help tom. > >_________________________________________________________________ >Join the world's largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. >http://www.hotmail.com > > >To send a message to this group, send an email to: >Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > >For list server instructions, go to >http://www.chrysler300club.com/yahoolist/inst.htm > >To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to: >Chrysler300-unsubscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > > > >Your use of Yahoo! I'm hunting a heaterbox delete firewall filler plate for my 57 coupe. I wondered if anybody's seen one of these plates, has one, or even knows if the box shape is the same from 57-59? or just 57 & 58? I've been unable to even find a picture of the piece. Many thanks. mike v Ps. Spent the last 48 hours of daylight sandblasting the C convert. in the hot GA sun. Have created a lovely white sand beach in my driveway next to the baby pool...free admission and lodging if you're looking for a bargain vacation spot!
