If you are referring to the 2 door hardtops, both 1955 & 1956 Chryslers are
the same panels with exception of hole locations for trim.  There is no
difference in the trunk fin area.  The Imperials of that era are different.
In 1955 the panel behind the rear window before the trunk is longer than the
Chryslers.  The same applies to 1956 Imperials.

Hope this clears up the confusion,

John Lazenby

I took a look at aajbrakes' website.  Looks like a simple elegant solution.  I just did new cylinders, shoes, bearings, drums on my 300B and spent almost this much for half(maybe 1/4th) the stopping power.  Now thinking of taking all off and putting in storage to put the disc's on.  Now if I could just find that 3.08(or 3.07) rear axle ratio????!!

Thanks for the info

I think AAJ Brakes out of Portland offers disc conversions for C300 and
300B. I installed one of his kits on Dad's 300C (need the driveshaft
finished to give them a real workout). He lists '55 - '56 Dodge and
  Plymouth on his site www.aajbrakes.com.
The owner seems to be a very nice and was truly interested in our being
satisfied with the conversion and asked lots of questions concerning the
  conversion.

Subject: parts yard

Hi gang,
We just got back from a swing through Alberta, and thought we would pass along some notes about a MOPAR parts yard.  Although I am sure many of you may already know of it,  the information may be useful to those (like us) who are relatively new to the restoration money pit...uh, I mean hobby...... anyway,  the name of the place is Flatla Auto Wrecking in Tilley Alberta, south east of Brooks, north east of Lethbridge.  On site he has thousands of Chrysler and Dodge products...... We  saw two 59 Saratogas. one 59 Windsor, and a 58 Dodge..... for later years, there are several non letter 300 cars, but those of you  who have been at it longer would have a better idea of iterchangeable parts......  For example, if anyone is looking for an original rear bumper for an "E",  the one on the Windsor was in great shape, perhaps in need of some re-chroming, but no  dents, no rust.... there were also remote driver side mirrors,  torqueflight tranny's etc.  The Windsor had tail light lenses, however, one was cracked, the other was missing a chunk where it meets the chrome housing....  Anyway, the guy's name is Dale Flatla,  and  he has an e-mail address if you have any questions about parts....

dflatla@xxxxxxxxxx  or you  can give him  a call at (403) 377-2484   Fax  (403) 377-2415.
Just thought we would share this with those of you who may be looking for stuff.

 Hi John and All,
The Imperials wheelbase was also quite different from the Chryslers. The
55 was 130 for the standard model, and 149.5 for the Limo. In 56 they went
to 133 inches with the Limo still at 149.5. In 57 through at least 66 it
went back to 129 inches. After 56 pretty much no exterior or interior
pieces
 interchanged with Chryslers.

Subject: LARGE PARTS AUCTION

Ok Folks, went to a Swap last weekend and learned of a LARGE
Parts Auction to happen   Nov 16th. in central Indiana

Mooresville Indiana,  4 miles east of Hwy 67 On State Road 144
(Not hard to get to at all)

Listed are LOTS of hard parts, small parts LARGE parts,
Ford, GM, Jeep, and Chrysler.

The stuff the guy had in his swap space was a VERY small sample
of what was to be auctioned off. From what I could tell it was
in great shape, the NOS stuff was well taken care of and if it
was "used" it too was in good condition.
(the NOS stuff shown at the swap was Mopar and nice!!!!, several Ring
and pinion sets WITH bearings and other pieces in the Mopar boxes)

I did ask about a preview and am supposed to call him back in a week

the description says there are 2 large buildings full of stuff,
probably 2 rings going at once.  From a phone call to the auctioneer I
learned that at least one of buildings is 150feet long, stuffed to the
ceiling he said. parts from the 40's 50's 60's and 70's were mentioned.

Subject: Car hauler

Hi all:

For all you 300 guys and gals or other automotive stuff that you would like
hauled, I found a hauler who appears to be very professional and inexpensive.
He only operates a corridor between California and Florida.  Said the roads
in the northern part of the US were too rough for his liking.

His name is Ron Ritchie, company name Auto Move It.  He operates out of
Lakeland, FL. He owns and operates a huge open air car hauler and has the
proper authority.  Can probably carry 8 vehicles.  The rig appears new.
Today, he loaded my neighbor's BMW for a trip from Northridge, CA to Miami.
The cost, $700.  He told me that if the neighbor had contracted with him
directly instead of going through a broker, the cost would have been slightly
lower.  Seems pretty reasonable to me.  If anyone is interested, here is how
to contact him.

Hi to all,

Many of you have asked for pictures of the new repro quarter panels. Some
pictures can be viewed at :
http://pub101.ezboard.com/fdesotoclubfrm10.showMessage?topicID=339.topic

Thanks to Dean Mullinax and the DeSoto Club for the pictures.

I have no idea who took them or how they got there, and, for the time being,
it is my understanding that they are still only available only at the
California location.

John

You got that right.  Metalcrafters is quite a facility.  They can make lots
of things here, such as windshields, steering wheels, etc.  Maybe we could
get them to do some for us?????

WOO-HOO !  They look great !  I'm so glad they did the full quarter
including the rollover where the door meets the quarter and the extension
that laps over the rocker.  From what I understood, these critical areas
were not in the original plan.  I hope they're not sold out yet ! :-)

If y'all want 'em, ORDER them.
Metalcrafters let it slip that they don't expect to make much ("if any") money on this project. They've had to re-do the mold several times to get it perfect. If thats true, they'll have zero incentive to do anything else for us -- unless we make this a profitable run for them.  So please send them your orders soon! Please also get the info posted far & wide.  Thanks.

These panels are manufactured, and sold by:  Metalcrafters (http://www.metalcrafters.com/) ; this is the company that builds Daimler/Chrysler's concept cars and others.

Cost of new panels ? : $150 each to members of ANY car club; $200 each to individuals. This price does NOT include shipping.

Method of Payment?:  Visa or Cashier's Check, only.

How / where to order?:  Contact Michael Justus  at (714) 444-2000 ext 262  or try e-mailing him at mjustus@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
