My first foray into a dual point distributor... (I saved a club e-mail regarding setting dwell (thanks Don)). Question is this: Does the adjustment need to be done on both sets of points individually - or just the secondary after gapping the primary - then checking both together? Does it matter? Is this done by simply turning the motor or must it be running? I guess I'd better also ask exactly where the clips of the dwell meter get connected...? Sorry for the re-hash, but I've installed and gapped the points and now the car won't start, so the help is much appreciated. Thanks. Mike V (dope dweller) >>From: Donald Verity <d.verity@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Saturday, November 20, 1999 10:06 AM The individual dwell should be 29-32. You can set this by blocking one set of points open with something non metallic (match book), and starting the engine to check the dwell. The timing will be affected and the engine may run rough or not idle. After setting one set do the other one the same way. It will probably take some trial and error, but the total dwell should come out somewhere in the specification range. Yahoo!
