[FWDLK] 1955 Imperial

I am still working on the brakes.  I am on the front brakes now.  I found that the front hoses where they screw into the top wheel cylinder have a brass washer that is built like a cup.  The new hoses I have came with just a flat brass washer.  Is the original cupped so as to keep dirt out of the brake area?  And should these be reused?  They look to be in good shape.  Thank yoou for any info on this.
