Re: [FWDLK] Looking for recommendations on a GOOD LED cordless/rechargeable work light to purchase

The real key here is to do away with the ballast. I have 14 2 tube lights with LED's now and another 8 or so with standard bulbs and I can leave them on all day for 2-3 Kilowatts of usage. When I change the newer ones, I'll use somewhat less.

Still am living in Mena, but we're downsizing. Having an auction to get rid of much of my stuff, wood shop tools, many extra mechanical tools. Lots of lumber, Oak, Black Walnut, Hickory and Ceder, some of which I cut from the property and had Milled.
Also,furniture and suchlike.
Planning to sell the property and maybe buy 1 or 2 acres with a small house or will place a custom Mfg. house on it. Hoping to stay near Mena.

Thank you Ray.  I can attest to the value of LED shop lights – replaced all fourteen double 4ft. fluorescents in my shop/garage with LED’s; that’s 28 four ft. LED’s...as bright as a runway at night.
Are you still in Mena, AR?

Not about portable work lights but a brighter shop environment.
I have converted 14 or so Florescent 2 tube shop lights in my shop to LED bulbs.
The rest have the electronic ballasts built into the actual ends where the bulbs install.
2 kinds of LED bulbs are available.
1. Direct replacement, using the original ballast, plug and play. While giving much brighter and better light, still wastes electric, with a useless ballast.
2. 120 volt. Take the shop light down, remove the bulbs, cut the wires and take  the ballast out. The LED tubes look just like regular tubes with 2 prongs at each end.
Only 2 at one end are used for the current. The 2 at the other end just support the bulb. You connect the 120 volt wire coming in, to the "Tombstones" on one end. Instructions are included, very simple.
Put the cover back on, install the bulbs and hang the fixture. Maybe 10
minutes per fixture.
Note that included with the bulbs us a sticker to place on the fixture as a warning it has been rewired.
Sorry for the detailed explanation, but it is so simple that anyone can do it.

Well worth it, much better light, which can be selected as to whiteness, near forever life of the bulb and cut your light bill to 25% or less of what it costs you now.
My cost was about $6.78 per bulb in a case of 16 bulbs. $125.00 including shipping.
Go to "1000bulbs.com".
I've had friends replace 2 bulbs in a 4 bulb ceiling light and had much brighter light.

Hope this helps some dark shops, at my age I need all the light I can get!

Mail List members,

Do any of you have a recommendation on a GOOD LED cordless/rechargeable work light?  I am tired of the local poor quality lights I have purchased in the past that
do not last nor provide sufficient lumens for working in the engine bay and cab...thank you for any recommendations!
