My cloth headliner was physically in almost perfect condition but dull, discoloured and stained from water, presumably from window seal leaks. I used Kilz Original Oil Based Stain Hiding paint, brushed on, two coats. I had them tint it but it's not the intended base paint for their tinting system so it was a bit of try a few more drops of this tint and that tint till it was more or less what I wanted. The first coat soaked right in. I gave it maybe half an hour to dry and did the second coat. It took about 1.5 pints. I didn't think I had enough left for a third coat or I would have done a third but with two coats it looks very good. It also made the old cloth much stronger, turned it into like a very very thin cardboard but you can still see the cloth pattern. You're working upside down with a thin paint so you want to cover everything below against drips. I used a foam paintbrush. Jim
