The best clerk by far at our local small town NAPA store is a woman in her
thirties named Joy. She knows more than all the other guys put together,
and if she doesn't know she'll find out. The only way to get the ol' grey
haired fat guy, Marv, to open a parts book is to put a donut on a fishing
line and dangle it over the book.

Nowadays, if it isn't in the computer, it never existed. Just for fun you can also ask for part for a Datsun. Many folks don't recall it was the early version of Nissan. Not that I drive either. The counter guys would ask what company made them. That is why I like to see a counter person (and airline pilots) with gray or white hair. ----- Original Message ----- From: Brent Burger <cgico@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sat, 05 Sep 2015 12:40:31 -0400 (EDT) Subject: Re: [FWDLK] Needed: 57 Dual Point Distributor Vacuum Advance Do what I do, and just walk into any auto parts store and tell them you need a part for your DeSoto. You will swear you just shot them with a Stupid Gun …. if you get any response at all, it will be some minor scratching at the surface about "having heard of those”, but all function of parts searching will stop right there ! I think you are on the right track in finding latter-day interchange numbers. Don’t even mention what it fits outside the Forward Look crowd ! Good luck on your search. B. About 13 years ago I went to an All-Mopar Performance swap meet. The only thing I saw there the vintage I was looking for were a few First Gen Hemi sparkplug tubes. Just for snits an grins I bought one and once home I polished it up a lot. It Looked Mighty 'Oh Look, Shiney stuff' and hung it from the rear view mirror of my Hodge Podge Dodge 'FrankinTruck'. One day on a lark while out looking for parts for wifypoo's car I grabbed the dangling sparkytube and took it in with me. I asked the idling parts folks bunched up behind the counter for a gasket for this! Only One of them knew what it was, and Jups!, it were a gray hair adorned older gent. -- Paul Holmgren If you think Space is the Final Frontier, You should see my Garage! ************************************************************* To unsubscribe or set your subscription options, please go to http://lists.psu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=l-forwardlook&A=1 Help the Forward Look with every eBay purchase by starting your search here: http://www.ForwardLook.net/eBay Help the Forward Look with every Amazon purchase by clicking here: http://www.ForwardLook.net/Amazon ************************************************************* To unsubscribe or set your subscription options, please go to http://lists.psu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=l-forwardlook&A=1 Help the Forward Look with every eBay purchase by starting your search here: http://www.ForwardLook.net/eBay Help the Forward Look with every Amazon purchase by clicking here:http://www.ForwardLook.net/Amazon ************************************************************* To unsubscribe or set your subscription options, please go to http://lists.psu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=l-forwardlook&A=1 Help the Forward Look with every eBay purchase by starting your search here: http://www.ForwardLook.net/eBay Help the Forward Look with every Amazon purchase by clicking here: http://www.ForwardLook.net/Amazon
