Total contact brakes, what year did they start and what year were they out?
I am having trouble on my 56 Dodge (may not be OE rear end) I cannot get the brakes right. it seems they work for a few times then they back off so I have a soft pedal….
I can pump them up but they are maxed out. and only the top part of the brake shoe contacts the drum. I cannot get the whole shoe to engage the drum….(drums and shoes are new and within factory spec…)
I am taking about the rears the fronts are disk and are now working great I had to add a bigger vacuum diaphragm booster, the rears are giving me the trouble. Is there a way to upgrade the rears in some way?
The parts all look new the wheel cylinders were just replaced. Is it possible not knowing for sure what year the rear brakes are is it possible I got 1956 wheel cylinders that fit fine but are too small for the set up? Thus not holding enough brake fluid?
What years of Mopar rear end interchange with the 56 Dodge?
