The basic premiss here is that skirts give a sleeker appearance.
This may depend on where you lived, your age and what you and your friends liked back then. Foxcraft was the best mfg. looked right and fit very good. Never lost one. I had many cars with skirts, but I was a teen in the fifties. Grew up in The county west of Baltimore, MD
My custom '49 & '51 Mercury converts had modified Turnpike Cruiser skirts with an air scoop I molded in the front. My '58 Impala convert. had them when I got it 1 year old. My '61 Impala SS convert. also had then, also, bought 1 year old. Had to take them off every weekend at the dragstrip.
I had them on several others, but do not recall ever buying any other than the TP Cruisers. Ray, lost in the fifties....
