Friend of my brother put a 392 hemi in a 57 Ford Fairlane that he blown up the 312 on. He later acquired a 58 Fury and found a 300C hemi down in a Chicago scrap yard. This was around 1962 or so. He picked it with the Ford and left the yard with two 392 hemi’s, one up front supplying the motive power and one resting in the trunk just going along for the ride. That 300C hemi went into the Fury. I never saw the Fury run but according to my brother it was one wicked machine.

My favorite non-traditional swap was done by a friend of mine. He put a 413 cross ram motor, dash, tranny, rear end, and interior from a 62 Chrysler 300 into a 57 Chevy Belair. Very nice job. The best part is the fiberglass tilt front end so all can be seen.

I also just put a 500 caddy in my 59 galaxie convt, just because it has a nice gold 500 on the trunk... I wanted it to be true!  And keeping it mopar, I have 20 fwdlk mopars beside a 2nd 59 gal vert, 2 57 lincolns, 59 edsel, some buicks, pontiacs, Ford trucks, and chevrolegs :)

Mostly, it's just boring.

I agree with Jay Leno. Hot rodders should make the effort and not just follow the pack by putting anachronistic engines in their rides.
If you want to put in a Buick nailhead, or an early hemi, or an early Cadillac or whatever in your Ford hotrod, go for it. That's what they did back in the day.
I went to a Ford show once, and it was the rare 32 that DIDN'T have an SBC. I also agree with Jay that hotrods shouldn't have automatic transmissions.

That said, it is clear that a large percentage of our population likes to do "what everyone else is doing." I guess they feel more a part of things.
We don't have that problem with our Mopars. I am forever grateful, however, that we formed the Forward Look list. It's the best place to turn to for advice.
And it was fun meeting a lot of you in Tulsa back in 2007. Whatever became of that car, anyway? Methinks it was too far gone.

The darkest, the blackest, the Darth Vader side is the SBC. That is akin to
selling your sister. I am appalled that such language is allowed on this
list. What has the world come to.

LOL----the Dark Side is putting in a 440 or a SBC, NOT merely a couple
OEM-aftermarket/vintage-era hop- ups that could have been done, back in the
'day' !!!
