Re: [FWDLK] Polarizing

I agree with Richard about the actions, jump from the "HOT" terminal to the "Gen" terminal. This action will feed current to the Field Coils and make the Screws that hold the coils and shoes in place to become little Magnets. Interesting is the nomenclature saying "Polarizing the regulator".  The process actually is to Polarize the Generator by making those steel screws holding the Field Coils and Shoes in place to have a slight magnetic charge so that when the generator begins to function it will energize the coils to produce voltage with the matching polarity of the car.  The shoes themselves will not retain any magnetism induced because the shoes are made of Iron which has no Residual Magnetism qualities.

Just an interesting tidbit of generally useless information, given to point out one of the marvels of early engineering.

Hi to ALL,
What are the 2 terminals that you have to short out when polarizing a 6 volt voltage regulator with a positive ground system.
Thank you in advance.
